PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Raul Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rasmus Vinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Raul Gonzalez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rasmus Vinn!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzalez looks for a takedown but Vinn sprawls well.

Gonzalez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Gonzalez controlling the position from side mount.
Vinn is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Gonzalez is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Gonzalez looking to control and managing it successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vinn is looking to get to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gonzalez has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Gonzalez seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Vinn for as long as he can get away with.
Vinn prevents Gonzalez from taking his back.

Gonzalez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Vinn tries to close the distance and clinch but Gonzalez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Gonzalez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Gonzalez's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Gonzalez feints and as Vinn raises his hands in defense, Gonzalez changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Vinn can't keep his opponent in guard - Gonzalez advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Gonzalez is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gonzalez connects with a nice short shot to Vinn's temple.

Vinn takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Gonzalez tries for a takedown but Vinn sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Gonzalez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Vinn tries to avoid it but Gonzalez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Vinn to the ground. Vinn escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gonzalez, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
