PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sam Kwaak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Silik Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hunt has chosen London Calling as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunt throws a lazy right hand but Kwaak sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Hunt fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Kwaak has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

and Kwaak holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Hunt blocks an elbow strike.
Hunt pushes Kwaak back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Kwaak tries to land a knee to the head but Hunt blocks with his arms.

Hunt breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Kwaak fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hunt to the ground. Kwaak is now in Hunt's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Kwaak throws a front kick aimed at Hunt's knee but Hunt avoids it well.

Hunt jabs Kwaak to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hunt is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Kwaak rather than just go for the knockout.

Kwaak comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Hunt looks to land a right hand but Kwaak moved out of range.
Hunt tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kwaak was well out of range. Poor timing from Hunt.
Kwaak closes the distance and clinches up with Hunt, looking for a takedown. Kwaak pushes Hunt against the cage but Hunt circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Horrible takedown by Kwaak or perhaps it was just good defense by Hunt which made him look bad.
Hunt is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kwaak.

Hunt shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Kwaak eats them both and turns towards Hunt to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Kwaak dives in and grabs Hunt's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hunt pushes down on Kwaak's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sam Kwaak. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hunt misses with a kick to the body.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Kwaak checks a leg kick.
Hunt finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Kwaak looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hunt with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Hunt has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kwaak is working away from the top position though.
Kwaak lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Hunt connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kwaak's hands.

Kwaak uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Hunt has time to react.
Kwaak tries a low kick but Hunt avoids it.
Sam Kwaak has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kwaak stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Kwaak takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Hunt throws a series of punches but Kwaak avoids them all with ease.
Kwaak pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Hunt does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
