Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Bede (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 16 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lucas Bede!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Columbo Gatti and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bede throws a head kick that misses.
Gracie looks to score with a jab to the body but Bede is just out of range.
Gracie throws a series of punches but Bede avoids them all with ease.
Bede defending well as Gracie loads up on a big left hand.
Bede jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Bede shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Gracie fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Bede on the side of the head.

Bede closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Gracie can't get the takedown.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Bede.
Bede misses with a knee strike.
Gracie blocks the elbow strike.
Gracie dodges an elbow strike from Bede.
Gracie drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bede tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Bede just leaning against Gracie, taking a breather.
Bede tries to land a knee to the head but Gracie blocks with his arms.
Bede throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Gracie blocks it with crossed arms.
Gracie tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bede just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ryan Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bede's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bede throws a lazy head kick
and Gracie counters with a three punch combo that has Bede backing up. Bede nods at Gracie to acknowledge the strikes.

Bede gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Gracie.
Bede wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gracie has him pressed against the cage.

Gracie tries to pull guard but Bede won't allow it.

Bede wants to get back to striking at distance but Gracie won't allow it.

Bede scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Bede tries to land a knee to the head but Gracie blocks with his arms.
Bede is trying to maintain a safe position but Gracie gets an underhook and turns Bede into the cage.
Gracie is working for takedown but Bede is calmly controlling the position for now.
Gracie avoids a wild elbow strike from Bede.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bede tries a knee to the head but Gracie blocks it.

Bede misses with a hook from the clinch.
Bede misses with a knee strike.
Bede throws a punch but it's blocked by Gracie.

Bede pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gracie looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bede is fending him off so far but Gracie persists. Nope, Bede circles away and we're back to standing.
Gracie looks to land a left hand but Bede moved out of range nicely.
Bede takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Gracie misses with a left hand
and Bede counters with a series of strikes. Gracie will be more careful next time no doubt.
Gracie blocks a head kick by Bede.
Bede tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Bede bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Lucas Bede seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Bede gets caught napping as Gracie dives in and scores a takedown. Bede manages to retain guard.
Gracie passes Bede's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Bede wants to get back to his feet.
Gracie works his way into full mount!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gracie lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Gracie is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Bede is surviving well by controlling Gracie's body position as best he can.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ryan Gracie will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Bede tries to keep at a distance but Gracie has taken the fight into the clinch.

Gracie fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bede sprawls well initially but Gracie persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Bede on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Gracie frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Gracie lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

You get the feeling that Bede really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Gracie lands a nice shot to the head.

Gracie is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Bede has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Bede!

Bede tries to stand but Gracie is controlling from the bottom.

Bede got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gracie has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bede has managed to get both his arms back between Gracie's legs - danger averted.

Bede avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Bede wants to stand and escape but instead Gracie has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Ryan Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Gracie is looking for a kimura but Bede is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gracie to get the leverage.
Bede wants to get back to his feet.
Gracie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Gracie is nestled in close to Bede, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Gracie thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Gracie wants to work for an arm triangle but Bede is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gracie is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Bede has managed to free his arm - good work.

Gracie looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bede is refusing to be controlled, as Gracie sits in half guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Gracie dodges the punch combination from Bede.
Gracie lands with a straight right. Bede didn't see that one coming.
Gracie scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Bede is looking to clinch but Gracie is avoiding it.
Gracie keeps the fight on the outside.

Bede has closed the distance and engaged Gracie in a clinch.

Bede's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Gracie swats away the attempt to clinch by Bede.
Gracie dives in and grabs Bede's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bede pushes down on Gracie's head and hops out.

Gracie shoots for a double leg takedown but Bede sprawls well. He's pushed Gracie's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A combination from Gracie does no damage.
Gracie throws a lazy right hand but Bede sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Gracie avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Gracie works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Bede gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Bede wants to clinch up but Gracie keeps it at a distance.
Gracie lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Bede slaps away a takedown attempt from Gracie, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Lucas Bede has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Bede throws a nice looking combination but Gracie bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Gracie counters with a left and a right that stings Bede.
Lucas Bede is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bede throws a head kick but Gracie moves out of range.
Bede uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gracie.
Gracie swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Gracie circles away from the clinch attempt.
Bede fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Gracie.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Gracie.
Sloppy strikes there by Gracie.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gracie scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Bede to see if he's OK.
Gracie prevents Bede from escaping the position.
Gracie working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Gracie tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Gracie works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Ryan Gracie is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Gracie moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Gracie has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bede tries to strike from the bottom but misses.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ryan Gracie showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gracie, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
