PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mrs Harrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mrs Harrison was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andrew Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mrs Harrison!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin has a takedown stuffed.
Harrison wants to clinch up but Griffin keeps it at a distance.
Griffin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Harrison sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Griffin somewhat.
Griffin checks the leg kick.

Harrison fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Griffin sprawls well initially but Harrison persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Harrison controlling the action here.
Let's hope that Harrison has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Harrison decides to return to a standing position.

Harrison clinches.

Harrison has hold of one of Griffin's legs. Griffin is fighting the takedown attempt but Harrison gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Harrison controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Harrison gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Harrison scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Griffin actively working from the bottom here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Harrison seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Griffin is pressing down on Harrison's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Harrison lands a couple of digs.

Harrison stands up from Griffin's guard - Harrison perhaps looking for a knockout.

Harrison rushes Griffin and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Griffin wants to take the fight to the mat but Harrison manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andrew Griffin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Harrison slows down the pace here.
Griffin is trying to push Harrison away but Harrison has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Griffin is looking to break free of the clinch but Harrison has double underhooks.
Griffin wants to break free but Harrison has control.
Griffin tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Harrison avoids it.
Griffin tries to pull guard but Harrison forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Griffin is breathing heavily.

Harrison gets control of Griffin's arms and successfully pulls guard. Harrison will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Harrison wants to stand but Griffin is controlling the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Griffin trying to control but Harrison is working from the bottom.

Harrison has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Griffin off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Griffin dodges the punch combination from Harrison.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Harrison moves into the clinch successfully.
Griffin jumps guard but Harrison stands there with Griffin around his waist. Griffin gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mrs Harrison dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Harrison shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Griffin can't escape the position.
Harrison lands a nice shot to the head.
Griffin is in all sorts of trouble here.
Harrison tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Harrison working for a guillotine from mount but Griffin is in no mood to give up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Griffin wants to hold on but Harrison pushes him away.
Harrison takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Griffin swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Griffin is looking to improve his position but Harrison isn't that keen on the idea.
Griffin is working hard here to advance position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Harrison is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Griffin to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Griffin shrugs it off.

Harrison looking to control and managing it successfully.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Harrison cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Harrison tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Harrison has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Griffin's face.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Harrison sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Harrison's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Griffin tries to control Harrison's body but Harrison pushes him off. Griffin squirms to his side and now Harrison has his back!
Griffin controlling his opponent's hands, preventing the submission attempt.
Harrison just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Griffin is really stuck here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mrs Harrison showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Harrison throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Harrison scores with a takedown into Griffin's guard.
Harrison slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Harrison stands and throws Griffin's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Harrison controls the position.
Griffin struggling a bit here.
Griffin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Griffin is looking to regain half guard here but Harrison keeps moving and retains side control.
Griffin can't do much from the bottom here.

Harrison decides to stand back up.

Harrison rushes Griffin and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Griffin is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Harrison is defending well for now.

Harrison lands with a left to the head.

Harrison pulls guard successfully.
Harrison has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Harrison looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Harrison is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Griffin defends well.
Griffin postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Harrison looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Griffin is defending well. Harrison quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Griffin has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Harrison celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Mrs Harrison!
