Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mark Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Three 6 Mafia - It's A Fight. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Williams!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Winston Howard and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Johnson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Johnson sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Johnson goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Williams is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Williams stays in close to Johnson's body and controls the position.
Johnson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Williams is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Williams wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving.

Williams stands up over Johnson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Williams's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Williams trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Williams decides to stand back up. Williams steps back and let's Johnson get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Williams tries to score a power double leg takedown but Johnson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Williams somewhat.

Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch but Williams swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Johnson misses with a two punch combination.

Williams shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Johnson napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Johnson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Williams wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Williams slows the pace down.
Johnson tries to improve position but can't.
Johnson takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Williams decides to stand back up. Williams steps back and let's Johnson get back to his feet.
Johnson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Williams drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Williams trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom.
Williams working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Johnson's head.
Williams works over Johnson with some ground and pound from guard.

Johnson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Williams gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Williams slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Williams trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Williams dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Williams tries to score a power double leg takedown but Johnson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Williams somewhat.
Johnson cracks a nice hook into Williams's ribs.

Williams looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Joe Williams has got the better of the ground game so far.
Williams is pressing down on Johnson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Johnson is holding on for now.

Johnson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Williams pulls his head out easily.
Johnson tries to get to full guard but Williams has control of the leg.

Williams is controlling the pace.
Williams is keen to just control but Johnson is a slippery customer.
Williams drops an elbow to the side of Johnson's head.
Williams wants to control but Johnson is keeping him busy.
Johnson regains full guard. Nicely done.
Williams connects with a couple of short punches.

Johnson has his foot on Williams's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Williams works his way back into a safe position though.
Williams stands and throws Johnson's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Williams connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Johnson some visible discomfort.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Williams postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Johnson looks a forlorn figure.

Williams connects with a bit shot that sees Johnson covering up! More strikes from Williams and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Williams is our winner by TKO!
