Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eli Ellinger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Castro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ellinger kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Bars On Me by Chris Webby. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eli Ellinger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jay Castro!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ellinger scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Castro drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Castro is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Castro tries to free his leg and advance position but Ellinger is retaining full guard.

Castro stands and steps away. Ellinger gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
A swing and a miss from Castro.
Castro tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ellinger was well out of range. Poor timing from Castro.
Ellinger fails with an attempt to clinch.

Castro is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Ellinger's half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well, if Castro is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Castro wants to pass the guard but Ellinger is defending well.

Ellinger has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Castro is working away from the top position though.
Ellinger moves into full guard.
Castro throwing strikes but missing.
Castro stays in close to Ellinger's body and controls the position.
Ellinger wants to sweep but no luck.

Castro is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Ellinger is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Ellinger has escaped and now he's on top!

Castro is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ellinger is aware though and is defending well.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Ellinger feints a jab promting Castro to slip. Ellinger then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Castro slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Ellinger tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ellinger is looking to clinch but Castro is avoiding it.
Ellinger closes the distance but Castro moves to the side

and Castro counters by moving into the clinch.

Castro jumps guard and drags Ellinger to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Castro looking for a guillotine here but Ellinger defends easily.
Ellinger wants to control from the top but Castro keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Castro is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ellinger is controlling him.
Castro has his hands on Ellinger's head, controlling the position.
Ellinger stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Castro swivels though and keeps the full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ellinger got a little sloppy there for a moment and Castro has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ellinger has managed to get both his arms back between Castro's legs - danger averted.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Castro dominated that round.
That's time! Ellinger's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Castro has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Ellinger.
Ellinger lands with a slapping head kick.
Ellinger fails to land with a series of punches.

Castro shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ellinger's guard.
Ellinger is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Castro won't allow Ellinger to get back to his feet.

Castro is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Castro sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ellinger's guard.

Castro tries for a kimura but Ellinger is defending well.
Castro wants to control but Ellinger is keeping him busy.
Castro grinds an elbow into Ellinger's temple.

Castro is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ellinger knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Castro wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ellinger keeps working.

Castro looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Ellinger is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Ellinger is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Castro's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Castro's back!
Ellinger is trying to control but Castro is trying to escape here - he's now mounted.
Jay Castro has got the better of the ground game so far.
Castro is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Castro wants to hold on but Ellinger pushes him away.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Castro can do anything to dispel that myth.

Ellinger is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Castro has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Castro!

Castro throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Castro lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ellinger circles away quickly and effectively.

Castro is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Ellinger.

Castro moves into the clinch successfully.
Castro is trying to drag Ellinger to the mat but Ellinger just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Ellinger tries to pull guard but Castro holds him up against the cage and eventually Ellinger drops back down to his feet.
Ellinger is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Ellinger pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Ellinger lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Ellinger throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Eli Ellinger is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Castro takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Castro avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Ellinger gets tackled into the cage by Castro. Castro maintains the clinch.
Nice body punch from Ellinger - that landed with a thud.
Ellinger has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Ellinger tries to throw a body punch but Castro avoids it by throwing Ellinger back against the cage.
Castro wants to take the fight to the mat but Ellinger manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Eli Ellinger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jay Castro.
Castro is looking for a takedown.
Ellinger digs a right hand underneath Castro's ribcage. Castro let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Ellinger looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Jay Castro is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ellinger has had enough of the clinch but Castro keeps him there for the moment.
Ellinger is trying to push Castro away but Castro has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Ellinger pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ellinger tries to clinch up.
Castro misses with a head kick.
Ellinger connects with a body shot.
Ellinger lands a head kick. Castro smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Ellinger drops Castro with a beautiful combination! Castro stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Ellinger is looking for the KO!


Castro is rocked!


It looks like Jay Castro has been cut.

Ellinger drops Castro with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Castro looks back up at him and smiles so Ellinger waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Castro is still on wobbly legs! Can Ellinger finish him?
Castro drops his hands momentarily. Ellinger doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Castro staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Castro doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Eli Ellinger!
A victorious Eli Ellinger thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter.
