Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Petr Trncek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
No joy there for Smith, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Smith should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Trncek tries to keep at a distance but Smith has taken the fight into the clinch.
Trncek has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Smith avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Trncek breaks the clinch.
Smith misses with the combination.
Trncek fails with a takedown attempt.
Smith misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Smith tries to land a front kick but Trncek steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Trncek closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Smith to the mat! Smith manages to get full guard.
Smith tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Trncek won't allow Smith to get back to his feet.

Smith throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Trncek stands up from Smith's guard - Trncek perhaps looking for a knockout.
Smith lands a slapping body shot.
Smith lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Trncek showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Smith.
Smith throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Smith stuns Trncek with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Smith throws a series of punches but Trncek avoids them all with ease.
Trncek closes the distance and clinches up with Smith, looking for a takedown. Trncek pushes Smith against the cage but Smith circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Petr Trncek. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Smith bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Trncek sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Trncek is trying to stand back up but Smith is controlling him
Trncek is breathing heavily.
Smith thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Trncek to regain full guard.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Smith has eaten all the pies!
Trncek prevents Smith from getting back to his feet.
Trncek will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Trncek. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Trncek is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smith can do anything to dispel that myth.

Smith wants to stand up but Trncek is controlling him.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Trncek connects with a couple of short punches.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Smith fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Smith closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Smith scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Smith dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Trncek shoots in but no luck this time.
Smith scores with a three punch combo!
Smith stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Trncek throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smith's waist but Smith gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Trncek off to one side.

Smith closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Smith decides to stand up, so the ref orders Trncek to his feet.
Smith scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Smith shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Smith lands a couple of digs.

Oh Trncek is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Smith decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Some wild striking there from Smith.
Trncek seems to have got his legs back now.
Smith throws a series of strikes that have Trncek backpedaling.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Smith comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Smith tries to bum rush Trncek with a series of wild strikes but Trncek uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Smith throws a right and a left that Trncek avoids nicely.
Smith will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Trncek throws a right hand that Smith ducks under and follows up with a left that Smith also avoids with ease.

enabling Smith to counter with a crisp jab.

Trncek on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Smith. Smith obviously looking to wear him down.
Trncek shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Smith but Smith pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Trncek tries for a takedown but Smith manages to get underhooks.
Trncek has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Smith is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Trncek tries to pull guard but Smith won't allow it.

Smith is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Smith has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

James Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Trncek closes the distance and clinches up with Smith, looking for a takedown. Trncek pushes Smith against the cage but Smith circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Trncek shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Trncek keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Smith tests Trncek's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Smith drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Trncek wants to sweep but no luck.
Smith works over Trncek with some ground and pound from guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Smith's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Smith must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Smith wants to pass the guard but Trncek is keeping the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Smith is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Smith wants to control from the top but Trncek keeps moving.

Trncek shoots for a double leg takedown but Smith sprawls well. He's pushed Trncek's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Trncek decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Smith, up you get!

and Smith counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Smith's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Smith duly obliges.
Smith lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Smith works over Trncek's head and body with a nice combination.
Smith throws a nice looking combination but Trncek bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Petr Trncek is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Smith buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Smith lands with a nice combination. Trncek backs away looking to recover.
Smith misses with a combination

and Trncek moves into the clinch.
Petr Trncek has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Trncek tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Trncek jumps guard but Smith stands there with Trncek around his waist. Trncek gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Trncek tries to throw a body punch but Smith avoids it by throwing Trncek back against the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
James Smith comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Smith has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
