The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Markakis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Markakis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fulton's waist but Fulton gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Markakis off to one side.
Fulton is trying hard to land a takedown here. Markakis sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Fulton takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Markakis stuffs the takedown.
Markakis tries to clinch but Fulton is having none of it.

Fulton closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Fulton lands in his opponent's guard.

Markakis escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fulton gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jimmy Fulton wasn't active enough on the ground.

Fulton bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Fulton is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Markakis manages to get back to half guard.
Fulton wants to control but Markakis is keeping him busy.

Fulton seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Markakis does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Fulton is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Markakis manages to get to full guard.
Fulton wants to control from the top but Markakis keeps moving.

Fulton sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Markakis doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Fulton paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Markakis - great work!
