The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richards throws a looping overhand right but Pinto ducks down to avoid it.
Richards lands a jab to Pinto 's midsection.

Richards rushes Pinto and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Richards turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Richards manages to end up in side control.

Despite being in the dominant position, Scott Richards just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pinto accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Richards had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Pinto is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Richards Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Pinto 's back instead.

Richards has Pinto pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Richards pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Pinto tumbling to the mat - Richards dives into Pinto 's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
