Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Tripper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ramses Roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tripper comes to the cage accompanied by Shout 2000. The crowd seem to be enjoying Roberts's choice of entrance music: Nacho Libre - Ramses. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A good leg kick by Tripper.

Roberts really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tripper. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Tripper counters with a shoot takedown. Roberts fights it but they end up in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Tripper drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Roberts manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Tripper has Roberts in his guard.
Tripper is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Tripper has his foot on Roberts's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Roberts works his way back into a safe position though.
Roberts must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Roberts takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Tripper has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Ramses Roberts.
Tripper steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Roberts. That one must have hurt.
Roberts slips a jab from Tripper.
Tripper looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Roberts is fending him off so far but Tripper persists. Nope, Roberts circles away and we're back to standing.

Roberts does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Tripper shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Roberts pinned against the cage. Roberts gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Tripper wants to land a leg kick but Roberts is out of range.

Tripper bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Roberts regains half guard, as Tripper was trying to land strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tripper is trying to control the action in half guard but Roberts is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Tripper is taking a breather. Roberts says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Roberts is refusing to be controlled, as Tripper sits in half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jack Tripper.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Tripper. That's going to take a lot out of him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jack Tripper.
