The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gruffo defending well as Tavares loads up on a big left hand.
Tavares misses with a hook to the body
and Gruffo counters with a nice body shot.
Gruffo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Tavares manages to avoid it.
Tavares misses with a combination
and Gruffo counters with an outside leg kick.
Gruffo lunges at Tavares with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Tavares's hand.
Gruffo throws a jab when Tavares was well out of range.

Tavares fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gruffo manages to avoid it.

Tavares's jab looks to have found its range, popping Gruffo under the eye.

Tavares is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Gruffo rather than just go for the knockout.

Tavares throws a looping overhand right but Gruffo ducks down to avoid it.
Tavares turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Tavares throws a sloppy head kick and Gruffo moves out of range easily.

Tavares swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Tavares cracks Gruffo with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

and Gruffo makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Gruffo throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Tavares lands a right hook to the body.
Gruffo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Tavares looks to land a body kick but Gruffo moved away.
Tavares dances in with a quick combination. Gruffo is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Tavares snaps Gruffo's head back. Gruffo stumbles backwards against the cage. Tavares steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Gruffo's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Gruffo just didn't come prepared.

A relieved looking Thiago Tavares thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
