PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Leo Maverick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Stevenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Wagner Zegers and Paulsen Ambrosius.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stevenson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Maverick, pushing him back against the cage.
Maverick pushes off an throws an elbow but Stevenson leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Stevenson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Maverick tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Stevenson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Maverick throws a left and a right that both miss

and Stevenson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Maverick's guard.
Stevenson with a flurry of punches that miss.
Maverick is looking to stand back up but Stevenson counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Maverick.
Maverick is looking to escape.
Stevenson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Maverick with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Stevenson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Stevenson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stevenson prevents Maverick from standing back up.

Stevenson stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Stevenson takes the fight into the clinch.

Stevenson breaks the clinch.

Stevenson drives through with a takedown into Maverick's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Stevenson gets to his feet. Maverick looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Maverick is breathing heavily.

Stevenson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Maverick might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Stevenson works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Stevenson is staying tight to Maverick's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Stevenson has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Maverick!

Maverick has left one of his arms exposed and Stevenson doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Maverick screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
