PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Erik Ragnaar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Janos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ragnaar comes to the cage accompanied by Wolfchant - Stormwolves. Janos comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Predator Theme kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Erik Ragnaar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jim Janos!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Summer Carpenter and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Janos wants to clinch

and Ragnaar counters with a shoot takedown. Janos fights it but they end up in guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Janos utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Ragnaar keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Janos's head.
Janos has Ragnaar pulled in close to control his posture.

Janos is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ragnaar is aware though and is defending well.
Ragnaar chips away with some ground and pound.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Janos not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Janos wants to stand and escape but Ragnaar is having none of it.
Ragnaar working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Janos is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Janos working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ragnaar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ragnaar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Janos looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ragnaar is one step ahead there.
Ragnaar cracks Janos with a solid left hand.
Janos wants to sweep here but Ragnaar controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ragnaar wants to pass the guard but Janos is keeping the position.

Janos pulls Ragnaar in close to his closed guard and prevents Ragnaar from doing any damage or advancing position.
Janos utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Janos looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Janos is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jim Janos was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Janos tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Jim Janos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Janos clinches up with Ragnaar and pushes him back against the cage.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Janos takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Janos blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Ragnaar is trying to maintain a safe position but Janos gets an underhook and turns Ragnaar into the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Erik Ragnaar dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Janos tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Janos closes the distance but Ragnaar moves to the side
and Ragnaar finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Janos throws a head kick that misses.
Ragnaar takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Ragnaar tries to clinch but Janos moves out of range.
Janos throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Janos clinches.
Janos creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Ragnaar's defenses.


It looks like Erik Ragnaar has been cut.
Ragnaar misses with a hook to the ribs.
Janos tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Ragnaar avoids it.
Janos avoiding damage as Ragnaar throws knees to the body.
Janos throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Ragnaar managing to block the knees to the body from Janos.
Ragnaar digs a right hand underneath Janos's ribcage. Janos let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Janos is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Janos pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Ragnaar lands a hook to the side of the head.
Janos is breathing heavily.
A shot in the inside from Ragnaar.
Ragnaar makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Ragnaar pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Janos wants to clinch.
Ragnaar lands a right hook to the body.

Janos pushes Ragnaar up against the cage in a clinch.
Janos throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Ragnaar utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Janos managing to block the knees to the body from Ragnaar.
Ragnaar makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
A left hand lands to the body for Ragnaar.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ragnaar lands a right hand that snaps the head of Janos backwards.

Janos takes a jab right on the kisser.
Ragnaar lands with a thumping leg kick.
Janos tries to move into range but Ragnaar moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Ragnaar throws a good cross that connects.

Ragnaar connects with the punch.
Ragnaar connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Janos doesn't manage to clinch there - Ragnaar circles away.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Janos.
Janos walks into a straight right hand from Ragnaar.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Ragnaar, right into the meat.
Janos closes the distance but Ragnaar moves to the side
and Ragnaar counters with a slapping leg kick.
Ragnaar stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Janos stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Ragnaar.
Ragnaar throws a quick inside leg kick.
Ragnaar steps in with a hook that catches Janos right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Ragnaar follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Janos looks absolutely devastated.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Erik Ragnaar!
During a confident post fight interview, Erik Ragnaar thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
