Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 38 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeremy Johnson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jack Winter!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Paul Gruel and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson dives in and grabs Winter's left leg, looking for a takedown. Winter pushes down on Johnson's head and hops out.
Winter throws a right hand that misses
and Johnson counters with a nice uppercut.
Winter leaves Johnson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Winter jabs at Johnson's body.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Winter as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeremy Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice takedown defense from Winter. No joy for Johnson on that attempt.
Nice defenses there by Johnson.
Nice uppercut there from Winter.
Jack Winter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Johnson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Winter looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Johnson cracks Winter with a big elbow.

Johnson works to advance to full mount. Winter defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Winter holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Johnson tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Winter is wriggling around trying to escape.
Johnson pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Winter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Johnson lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Johnson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Poor strikes thrown by Johnson there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
