The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva shoots in looking for a takedown but Lewis manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Silva's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Nice sprawl there from Lewis as Silva shoots in.
Silva closes the distance and clinches up with Lewis, looking for a takedown. Silva pushes Lewis against the cage but Lewis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chael Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.

John Lewis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Silva changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lewis looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Silva passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Lewis!
Lewis tries to lock up and control but Silva gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Silva is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Lewis to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Lewis shrugs it off.

Silva wants to finish this one by submission but Lewis is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Silva.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lewis can do anything to dispel that myth.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Silva has control of Lewis's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Lewis regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Silva jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Lewis manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Lewis tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Silva wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Silva has an Americana. Lewis didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Silva is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Silva hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
