Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Danny Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuki Kosaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Danny Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yuki Kosaka!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kosaka has taken the fight to the clinch.
Kosaka prevents the takedown attempt.

Kosaka pulls guard.
Carter engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Kosaka throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Carter trying to control the position from guard on top but Kosaka is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kosaka throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Kosaka wants to sweep but no luck.
Carter wants to control from the top but Kosaka keeps moving.

Kosaka trying to keep a closed guard but Carter is proving a slippery customer.
Carter is looking to advance position but Kosaka has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Carter is in all sorts of trouble here.

Kosaka stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Carter looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

and Kosaka counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Carter. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kosaka tries to score a power double leg takedown but Carter sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kosaka somewhat.
Carter closes the distance and clinches up with Kosaka, looking for a takedown. Carter pushes Kosaka against the cage but Kosaka circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Carter gets caught napping as Kosaka dives in and scores a takedown. Carter manages to retain guard.

Kosaka gets to his feet - Carter follows without any prompting.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kosaka shoots in looking for a takedown. Carter tries to sprawl out of it but Kosaka keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Carter manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Carter gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kosaka wants to control from the top but Carter keeps moving.

Kosaka drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kosaka jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Carter on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Carter tries to get out of the position.

Kosaka stands up and waves to Carter to follow him.

Carter shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Carter lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Kosaka hang on?
Kosaka is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Kosaka slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kosaka wants to control but Carter is keeping busy.

Kosaka makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Carter tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kosaka swivels and escapes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kosaka shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Carter is refusing to be controlled, as Kosaka sits in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yuki Kosaka dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Carter gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kosaka to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Kosaka trying to control but Carter is working from the bottom.
Kosaka seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Kosaka gets to his feet - Carter follows without any prompting.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kosaka closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Kosaka tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kosaka has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Yuki Kosaka has got the better of the ground game so far.

Kosaka tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Kosaka is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Carter wants to get back to his feet but Kosaka drags him back down.
Carter tries to buck Kosaka off but Kosaka is having none of it.
Kosaka moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Kosaka wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Carter, who protects the arm well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Carter is not content to let Kosaka control the position.

Kosaka decides to stand back up. Kosaka steps back and let's Carter get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kosaka gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

so Carter counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Kosaka looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Carter looking to sit in guard and control but Kosaka gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Kosaka wants to pass the guard but Carter is keeping the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kosaka slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yuki Kosaka showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Carter is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kosaka sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Carter feints and as Kosaka raises his hands in defense, Carter changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kosaka tries to strike from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kosaka is on top in guard.
Kosaka working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Kosaka trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Kosaka stands and steps away. Carter gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Carter shoots in for a takedown but Kosaka shows good takedown defense.

Kosaka shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kosaka passes into half guard.

Kosaka stands up out of the half guard.

Carter displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kosaka.
Kosaka defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Carter.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Carter. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Carter tries to sprawl but Kosaka drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kosaka content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Kosaka stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Carter to get to his feet.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Kosaka checks a leg kick.
Kosaka keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Carter gets caught napping as Kosaka dives in and scores a takedown. Carter manages to retain guard.
Kosaka passes Carter's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Kosaka content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Kosaka passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Carter!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kosaka has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Carter's face.
Kosaka with shots to the head and body - Carter looks very uncomfortable down there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kosaka lands with some strikes.
Danny Carter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Yuki Kosaka is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Kosaka looking to control but Carter is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Yuki Kosaka comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kosaka has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
