The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Bruno Hogan and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Alves drives through and clinches with Machida against the cage.
Machida tries to pull guard but Alves forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Alves lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Machida backwards.
Alves has clasped his hands together around Machida's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Alves in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Machida wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Alves has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Machida's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Machida is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Alves!
