The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vakarian fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Carrick, pushing him back against the cage.
Carrick is looking to control Vakarian's arms but Vakarian gets an underhook and turns him. Now Carrick has his back to the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Vakarian.

Vakarian breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Carrick fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Carrick gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

It looks like Ryan Carrick has been cut.
Carrick displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Vakarian throws out the jab.
Kaiser Vakarian seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Vakarian misses with a straight right.
Vakarian stuffs the takedown attempt from Carrick. Carrick gets slowly back to his feet.

Vakarian closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Carrick tries to keep at a distance but Vakarian has taken the fight into the clinch.

Vakarian manages to break the clinch.

Carrick clinches.
Vakarian tries to throw a body punch but Carrick avoids it by throwing Vakarian back against the cage.
Vakarian throws a punch but it's blocked by Carrick.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Vakarian creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Carrick is looking to break free of the clinch but Vakarian has double underhooks.
Carrick blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Vakarian throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Carrick gets control of Vakarian's arms and successfully pulls guard. Carrick will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Carrick keeping moving, preventing Vakarian from controlling successfully.
Vakarian looking to sit in guard and control but Carrick gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Vakarian wants to stand but Carrick is controlling the position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Carrick controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Carrick stands up from Vakarian's guard - Carrick perhaps looking for a knockout.
Vakarian blocks a head kick by Carrick.
Vakarian avoids the head kick by Carrick.
Carrick blocks a jab.
Carrick shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Vakarian as he avoids it easily.

Carrick is looking to clinch.
Carrick throws a big shot that misses.

Vakarian closes the distance and pushes Carrick back into the cage.
Vakarian lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Vakarian.
Carrick jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Vakarian walks away with a smile on his face. Carrick gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Carrick is breathing heavily.
Vakarian lands with an uppercut that bounces Carrick off the cage and back into range.
Vakarian throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Vakarian jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Vakarian rushes Carrick and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Vakarian lands a body punch in the clinch.

Vakarian breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Carrick will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Vakarian closes the distance and clinches.

Carrick goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Vakarian lands a shoulder strike.

Vakarian breaks the clinch.
Carrick ducks right into an uppercut from Vakarian.

Ryan Carrick's cut is getting worse.
Vakarian circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Carrick to the canvas! Carrick doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Vakarian keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
