PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between John Dodson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Going Nutz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Dodson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Going Nutz!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nutz with a poor takedown
letting Dodson counter with a right hand.
Dodson leaves Nutz with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Nutz misses with a takedown
and Nutz takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
John Dodson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Going Nutz.

Dodson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Nutz quickly recovers to half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Dodson wants to take a breather but Nutz is having none of it.
Dodson thows a huge punch but Nutz dodges it nicely.
Nutz is refusing to be controlled, as Dodson sits in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dodson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Nutz won't allow Dodson to pass to mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Nutz looking for submissions off his back.

Nutz looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Dodson is just content to waste time from the top position. Nutz takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Nutz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dodson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dodson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dodson throws a big right hand that misses.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nutz can do anything to dispel that myth.

Nutz is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Dodson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Nutz pushes a forearm under Dodson's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Dodson is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
