Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mush Mouth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derrick Hicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hicks comes into a darkened arena with his song building. It's Amazing kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The key to victory for Mush Mouth has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mouth looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hicks is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Mouth pulls his head out easily.
Hicks should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Mouth shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hicks as he avoids it easily.

Hicks had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Mouth is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Hicks Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Mouth's back instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mouth is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hicks doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mouth.

Mouth tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hicks knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Mouth wants to free his trapped foot but Hicks is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Mouth drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hicks looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hicks looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hicks!
Mouth tries to bench press Hicks off him but Hicks keeps the position.

Hicks tries for a kimura but Mouth is defending well.

Hicks thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Mouth tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hicks wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mush Mouth will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Hicks closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mouth to the mat! Mouth manages to get full guard.
Hicks wants to control from the top but Mouth keeps moving.
Mouth will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hicks has hold of Mouth's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Mouth manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
