PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rampage Djozilla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Slayter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jack Slayter!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Dmitry Maklakov and Ivan Kurochkin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Djozilla moves into range and clinches up with Slayter.

Djozilla has hold of one of Slayter's legs. Slayter is fighting the takedown attempt but Djozilla gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Djozilla passes Slayter's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Djozilla content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Djozilla thows a huge punch but Slayter dodges it nicely.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Slayter is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Djozilla jumps into side control!
Djozilla controls the position.
Djozilla lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Slayter down.
Slayter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Djozilla. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Djozilla has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rampage Djozilla.
Djozilla throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Slayter's waist but Slayter gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Djozilla off to one side.
Rampage Djozilla seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Slayter throws a nice inside leg kick.

Djozilla closes the distance and pushes Slayter back into the cage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Djozilla is trying to drag Slayter to the mat but Slayter just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Slayter throws his legs up looking for a submission but Djozilla uses it to pass to side control.

Djozilla changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Slayter looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Djozilla is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Slayter will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Djozilla seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Slayter for as long as he can get away with.
