PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Russell Jacobs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raul Ewing (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jacobs comes to the cage accompanied by Till I Collapse. Ewing has chosen B.o.B. - Created A Monster as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Russell Jacobs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Raul Ewing!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Columbo Gatti and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ewing misses with a body kick.
Jacobs lands with a good body shot.
Russell Jacobs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jacobs throws the left hand but Ewing avoids the punch easily.
Ewing jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Jacobs connects with a good right hand that stumbles Ewing. Ewing circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Ewing throws a solid leg kick but Jacobs takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Ewing.
Ewing drops his hands momentarily and Jacobs takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
A punch lands to the side of Ewing 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Jacobs fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ewing sprawls well initially but Jacobs persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ewing tries to get to full guard but Jacobs has control of the leg.
Jacobs wants to take a breather but Ewing is having none of it.
Ewing trying to control here.
Jacobs is pressing down on Ewing's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ewing is holding on for now.
Ewing wants to control but Jacobs is keeping busy.
Jacobs throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Jacobs has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Jacobs is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Jacobs is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Jacobs is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Ewing has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jacobs lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.


It looks like Raul Ewing has been cut.
Ewing is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Jacobs with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
The referee warns Ewing that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Jacobs wants to finish this one by submission but Ewing is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Jacobs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jacobs can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ewing is looking to escape.

Ewing tries to hold on but Jacobs postures up.

Jacobs working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Ewing bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Jacobs tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jacobs is trying to keep Ewing in close.

Jacobs looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Ewing passes into side control.
Jacobs wants to control but Ewing postures up.
Jacobs is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Ewing's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Jacobs is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Ewing rolls with it to try and escape but Jacobs cranks on the arm and Ewing is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Russell Jacobs was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
