PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joe Boxer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 16 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Boxer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 11 - 1, fighting out of New York, Jason Turner!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Steve Montenegro and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boxer moves out of range of the strikes.
Boxer stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.


It looks like Jason Turner has been cut.
Turner checks a low kick from Boxer.
Turner misses with a body kick.
Turner tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Turner misses with a right hand
and Turner takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Boxer uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Turner.
Boxer moves out of range of the body kick.
Turner thuds a left hand into Boxer's body.
Turner misses with a looping left.
Turner throws the left hand but Boxer avoids the punch easily.
Turner lands with an overhand left.
Turner throws a shot from downtown. Boxer moves away and avoids it.
Turner avoids the head kick by Boxer.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Turner clobbers Boxer with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Boxer has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Turner finds it's way round the side to connect with Boxer's head.
Boxer dodges the punch combination from Turner.
Turner connects with a jab.
Turner stuffs the takedown.
Boxer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Turner keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Turner thuds his right hand into Boxer's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Turner throws a head kick that misses.
Boxer is looking to chop away at Turner's legs.
Boxer with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Boxer motions for Turner to come forward. Boxer throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Jason Turner is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A big right from Turner misses.
Turner misses with a series of wild punches.
Boxer takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Boxer closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Nice jab there from Turner.
Boxer throws a front kick aimed at Turner's knee but Turner avoids it well.
Turner throws a series of punches but Boxer moves out of range.
Boxer has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Turner.
Turner scoring well with a low kick there.

Turner throws a head kick but Boxer moves out of range.
Turner looks to land a right hand but Boxer moved out of range.
Turner throws a hook but Boxer avoids it easily.
Turner pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Good standup being displayed there by Turner as he connects with a hook.
Turner buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Turner cracks the inside of Boxer's front leg.
Good shot there by Turner.
Turner connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Boxer's hands.
Nice shot lands for Turner.
Turner throws a nice looking combination but Boxer bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Boxer connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Turner momentarily.

Turner misses with a head kick.
Boxer takes one to the side of the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Turner moves out of range of the leg kick from Boxer.
Turner throws the kick towards the body but Boxer avoids it.
Turner is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Boxer had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Turner throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
A big left from Turner misses.
Boxer displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Turner throws out the jab.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Turner throws a hook but Boxer avoids it easily.
Nice straight punches there by Turner. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Turner.
Turner throws a body punch but Boxer moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Turner dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jason Turner's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Turner lands a jab to Boxer's midsection.
Turner lands with a nice combination. Boxer backs away looking to recover.
Good exchange - Turner coming out on top.
Turner rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Boxer moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Turner throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Boxer lands with an uppercut that bounces Turner off the cage and back into range.
Boxer uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Turner.
Boxer slips a jab from Turner.
Turner throws a jab when Boxer was well out of range.
That kick from Turner tenderised Boxer's leg. Boxer is trying to keep his angry face on.
Turner on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Boxer moves out of range as Turner strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Turner throws a lazy uppercut

and Boxer counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Turner's guard now.
Turner is trying to control the position but Boxer postures up.
Turner looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Boxer throwing strikes from guard but Turner blocks nicely.
Turner preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Boxer preventing the sweep.
Boxer throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Turner works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Turner is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Boxer trying to control here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Turner perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Turner stands up from half guard.
Jason Turner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Turner throws a nice head kick!
Turner tries to bum rush Boxer with a series of wild strikes but Boxer uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A thudding body kick lands there by Turner!
Boxer fails to land with a series of punches.
Turner rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Turner takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Turner fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Boxer.
Turner lands a body shot.

Boxer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Turner waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Boxer.
Turner looks to land a left hand but Boxer moved out of range nicely.
Turner swings for the body but Boxer moves out of range.
Boxer throws a lazy uppercut
and Turner counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Boxer slips under a jab from Turner.
Boxer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Turner throws a combination. Boxer tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
A jab from Turner misses.
Turner throws a body punch but Boxer moves out of range.
Boxer has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Boxer there as he acknowledges the shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Some wild striking there from Turner.
Boxer takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Turner fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Turner misses with a few strikes there.
Boxer throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Turner just misses with a punch to the body.
Boxer throws a head kick that misses.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Whack! Boxer lands a heavy head kick that drops Turner. The ref tackles Boxer to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Turner was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Joe Boxer!
