Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Wes Ekwall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Valentino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ekwall comes to the cage accompanied by Linkin Park--One Step Closer. Wes Ekwall could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to James Valentino's chin.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valentino drives through and clinches with Ekwall against the cage.
Ekwall has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Valentino is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Valentino tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Ekwall tries to work over Valentino's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Valentino just misses with a elbow thrown towards Ekwall's brow.

Valentino is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
