Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Russell Pearce and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Byrne cracks Chapin with a good jab.
Byrne connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Bernard Chapin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Byrne scores with a jab. Chapin acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Chapin closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Byrne quickly recovers to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chapin tries to close the distance and clinch but Byrne swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Byrne fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Chapin throws a right hand that Byrne ducks under and follows up with a left that Byrne also avoids with ease.
A slapping leg kick lands for Byrne.
Byrne throws a nice outside leg kick.
Byrne throws a leg kick which misses Chapin's front leg but catches the back leg as Chapin tries to avoid it.
Chapin tries to clinch up but Byrne circles away and keeps his distance.
Byrne looks to score with a jab to the body but Chapin is just out of range.
No joy there for Byrne, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Chapin shoots in and gets a takedown into Byrne's guard.
Chapin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Byrne works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Chapin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Chapin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Byrne is trying to keep Chapin in close.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Byrne dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Byrne uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Chapin has time to react.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Chapin crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Byrne - the referee stops the clock and Chapin gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Byrne. Chapin manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Byrne smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Byrne's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Chapin connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Byrne scrambles back to his feet.

Chapin seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Byrne shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Chapin is backing up but Byrne catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Chapin covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Byrne Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
