The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sylvia throws a push kick but Maia slaps the foot to one side.
Sylvia shoots in but no luck this time.
Sylvia gets caught flat footed, as Maia shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Maia drops back looking for a leg! Sylvia is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sylvia manages to kick Maia off! Maia jumps back into Sylvia's guard.
Maia trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Sylvia controls Maia momentarily but Maia frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maia postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sylvia is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Maia, into his guard.
Sylvia is posturing up here but Maia has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Sylvia tries to roll out but it's too tight and Sylvia has to tap! Slick submission there by Maia!
