The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

jay has taken the fight to the clinch.

hurricane closes the distance looking to clinch

and jay counters with a nice double leg into guard.
hurricane wants to sweep here but jay controlling him for the moment.
jay wanted to stand there but hurricane had control of the position.
hurricane can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as jay controls the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
jay swats away the attempt to clinch by hurricane.

and jay holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
A left hand lands to the body for jay.

jay breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and jay counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
jay trying to control the position from guard on top but hurricane is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
jay passes hurricane's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
hurricane is breathing heavily.

hurricane makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
hurricane looks for the body kick but jay saw that one coming.

jay breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
hurricane misses with a takedown

and jay counters by clinching up.

jay is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. hurricane can't fight it off and eventually jay manages to take the fight to the floor. hurricane looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
