Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Anton Palagin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Robert Hawks!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Viktor Lagutenko and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palagin lands a jab-cross combination.
Hawks throws a big shot that misses.
Hawks tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Palagin holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Hawks tries to pull guard but Palagin holds him up against the cage and eventually Hawks drops back down to his feet.

Palagin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hawks leaves Palagin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Palagin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hawks moves away.

Hawks shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Palagin is trying to defend but Hawks finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Palagin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Palagin manages to get to full guard.
Palagin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Palagin has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Hawks has passed into side control.

Hawks is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Palagin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Hawks controls the position.

Hawks looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Hawks is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Palagin is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Palagin is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Hawks advances to full mount.

Palagin tries to hold on but Hawks postures up.
Hawks scoring with strikes but Palagin is staying in there.
Palagin is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Hawks wants to control the pace but Palagin is squirming around nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hawks misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Palagin wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Hawks.
Palagin is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Hawks is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Palagin has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Hawks looks gassed!
Palagin is wriggling around trying to escape.
Palagin is squirming around, avoiding Hawks's attempts to control the action.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hawks looking for a guillotine from mount but Palagin is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robert Hawks dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Palagin fails to land with a series of punches.

Palagin takes the fight into the clinch.

Palagin manages to break the clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hawks is defended easily by Palagin.
Anton Palagin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hawks slaps away a takedown attempt from Palagin, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Palagin stuffs the takedown.

Palagin tries to clinch up but Hawks circles away and keeps his distance.
Hawks looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Palagin is fending him off so far but Hawks persists. Nope, Palagin circles away and we're back to standing.
Anton Palagin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robert Hawks.
Hawks is breathing heavily.
Palagin dives in and grabs Hawks's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hawks pushes down on Palagin's head and hops out.
Hawks takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Hawks looks for a takedown but Palagin sprawls well.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Palagin.
Palagin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hawks swivels and escapes.
Palagin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hawks was well out of range. Poor timing from Palagin.

Palagin tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Hawks is able to avoid easily.
Palagin doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Hawks counters with a nice double leg into side control. Palagin won't be happy with that.
Palagin is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Hawks is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Hawks controlling from mount.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Palagin is looking to improve his position but Hawks isn't that keen on the idea.
Hawks looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hawks is working for a guillotine from mount but Palagin frees his head quite easily.
Palagin wants to control but Hawks is having none of it.
Palagin is wriggling around trying to escape.
Hawks controlling the position easily from mount.
Palagin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hawks on the ground.
Palagin reaches up to try and control the position but Hawks seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Palagin rolls and tries to escape and now Hawks has his back!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Hawks is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Palagin won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Hawks off his unconscious opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Robert Hawks!
