Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sean Sherk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zack Deane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sean Sherk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zack Deane!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sherk shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Deane sprawls well. Deane wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sherk gets slowly back to his feet.
Sherk shoots in but no luck this time.
Sherk throws a jab but it's blocked by Deane.
Sherk misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sean Sherk. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sherk misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Sherk closes this distance looking for a takedown but Deane circles away.
Deane defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sherk.
Sherk is breathing heavily.
Deane shoots for a double leg takedown but Sherk sprawls well. He's pushed Deane's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Deane throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Sherk escapes and throws Deane's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Sherk tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Deane tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Sherk jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Deane is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Deane and Sherk has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Sherk is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Deane has escaped the position, nice work there.

Sherk tries to move into full mount but can't pass Deane's legs.

Sherk decides to stand up, so the ref orders Deane to his feet.
Zack Deane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Deane shoots in for a takedown but Sherk shows good takedown defense.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Deane gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Sherk counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Deane!
Poor strikes thrown by Sherk there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Sherk stands up from mount. Strange move.
Deane misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Sherk clinches up with Deane and pushes him back against the cage.

Sherk decides to pull guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Sherk looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Sherk is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Deane is looking to work some ground and pound but Sherk has wrist control.

Deane throwing strikes from guard but Sherk blocks nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sherk pushes Deane off and scrambles back to his feet.
Deane shoots in for a takedown but Sherk shows good takedown defense.
Sherk shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Deane as he jumps to the side.
Sherk fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Deane shoots in looking for a takedown. Sherk tries to sprawl out of it but Deane keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sherk manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Sherk shoots in but no luck this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sherk stuffs the takedown attempt from Deane. Deane gets slowly back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sean Sherk dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Sherk cracks Deane with a big elbow.

Sherk swings around for an armbar but Deane sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Sherk's guard.
Sherk looking to hit a scissor sweep but Deane is one step ahead there.
Sherk is working hard here to advance position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Deane landing with the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Deane is fighting to break Sherk's control of his arms but Sherk is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Sherk wants to sweep but no luck.
Deane with a flurry of punches that miss.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Deane accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Deane really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sherk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Deane throws an elbow that misses. Sherk uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Deane's guard. Nice move by Sherk!
Sherk wants to control from the top but Deane keeps moving.
Sherk is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Sherk trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Deane keeping moving, preventing Sherk from controlling successfully.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Deane can do anything to dispel that myth.
Sherk wants to stand but Deane has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sean Sherk wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Sherk looks for a takedown but Deane sprawls well.
Deane shoots in but no luck this time.
Horrible takedown by Deane or perhaps it was just good defense by Sherk which made him look bad.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Deane.
Sean Sherk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zack Deane.
Sherk closes the distance and clinches up with Deane, looking for a takedown. Sherk pushes Deane against the cage but Deane circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Nice sprawl there from Sherk as Deane shoots in.

Sherk closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Deane gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Sherk working for a guillotine from mount but Deane is in no mood to give up.
Sherk is landing with some decent strikes but Deane is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Deane is bucking up trying to escape but Sherk cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Sherk looking to control but Deane is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Deane keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Deane tries to hold on but Sherk postures up.

Sherk working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Deane is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Deane is squirming around, avoiding Sherk's attempts to control the action.

Deane tries to lock up and control but Sherk gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Sean Sherk is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Zack Deane has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

And that's the end of the fight!
Sean Sherk showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Sherk has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
