Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sammy Sway (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anderson has chosen Paradise City-Gun's 'N' Roses as his entrance music. Sammy Sway has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sammy Sway!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Greg Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Paul Gruel and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sway tries to clinch up

and Anderson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Anderson jumps guard but Sway turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Anderson has Sway pressed against the cage, preventing Sway from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Anderson pulls guard.
Anderson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sway manages to get himself to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Anderson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Anderson drives through and clinches with Sway against the cage.
With the fighters up against the cage, Anderson throws an elbow but misses.

Anderson breaks from the clinch.
Sway tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Anderson counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Anderson working over Sway with some ground and pound. Sway looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Anderson decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Sway scores with a hook to the body. Anderson takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Sammy Sway seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Anderson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Anderson lands a takedown into guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sway keeping full guard, as Anderson tries to pass.
Anderson wants to stand but Sway has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Anderson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Anderson throws a strike but Sway rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Sway wants to pass the guard but Anderson is keeping the position.

Anderson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Sway off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Anderson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Sway manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sway is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Anderson is controlling him.

Anderson looking to improve position, pressing down on Sway's thigh with his hand. Sway seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Anderson paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Anderson's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Sway picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Sammy Sway!
