Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Graham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rogers's entrance music is Star-Spangled Banner. A fine choice. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Rogers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Graham!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Dean Styles and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Graham shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Rogers controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Graham slows the pace down in half guard.
Rogers makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rogers.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rogers doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Rogers wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rogers is controlling Graham's posture.
Graham trying to control the position from guard on top but Rogers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Graham tries to free his leg and advance position but Rogers is retaining full guard.
Rogers is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Rogers wants to take a breather but Graham is having none of it.

Graham is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Rogers is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Graham sees it coming and defends easily.
Rogers is thwarting Graham's attempts to control the position.
Rogers missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Rogers seems to be working for a kimura but Graham defends the submission attempt.
Graham manages to get to full guard.
Rogers could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Graham is looking to advance position but Rogers has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Graham is looking to improve his position but Rogers isn't that keen on the idea.

Rogers jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Graham is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Graham and Rogers has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Graham is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Rogers off and has taken his back!

Rogers trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

Rogers defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Graham's arms.
Rogers breaks Graham's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Rogers drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Graham dives on top into guard.

Graham has gone for a leg lock! Rogers slips out almost immediately though and dives into Graham's guard.

Graham bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rogers's guard.

Graham is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Graham stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rogers swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Graham wants to pass the guard but Rogers is keeping the position.
Rogers is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Rogers rushes Graham and presses him up against the cage.

Graham is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Rogers can't fight it off and eventually Graham manages to take the fight to the floor. Rogers looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Rogers drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Graham manages to work his way to half guard, despite Rogers's best efforts.
Graham wants to control but Rogers is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Graham is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Rogers scores with a couple of nice shots.

Rogers is working for a submission of some sort.
Matt Graham has got the better of the ground game so far.
Rogers looks to land a strike but Graham avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Graham is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Rogers pulls his head out easily.

Graham has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rogers is working away from the top position though.
Graham is looking for a sweep. Rogers is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Graham is pressing down on Rogers's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Rogers is pushing down on Graham's leg trying to pass to half guard. Graham is fighting to maintain full guard but Rogers has managed to sneak the leg through.
Graham is concentrating on defense, preventing Rogers from advancing position.
Rogers perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Graham is trying to maintain the position but Rogers is very close to passing his half guard.
Graham is breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rogers is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Graham is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Rogers avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Rogers throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Graham utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Rogers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Graham swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rogers wants to get up but he can't break Graham's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Graham wants to sweep here but Rogers controlling him for the moment.

Rogers is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Graham is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Graham has escaped and now he's on top!
Graham is fighting to break Rogers's control of his arms but Rogers is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Graham slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rogers can't do much from the bottom here.
Rogers gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

That was a close second round but I would say that Steve Rogers will probably get the nod.
That's time! Rogers's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Graham is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Rogers wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Rogers's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Rogers would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Rogers has hold of Graham's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Graham manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rogers can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Graham is looking to escape.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Steve Rogers.
I think Rogers has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
