PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jay The Killer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samuel Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the ring it seems that Jay The Killer has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jay The Killer seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jay The Killer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Samuel Silva!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Chris Edwards and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva throws a one two combo.
The Killer shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Silva throws out a powerful jab.
The Killer misses with a combination

and Silva counters with a shoot takedown. The Killer fights it but they end up in guard.

The Killer working for a triangle but Silva defends it easily.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Silva postures up in The Killer's guard and throws a big left but The Killer blocks it.

The Killer has his foot on Silva's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Silva works his way back into a safe position though.

Silva is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The Killer wants to advance to full mount but Silva doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

The Killer drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Silva manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now The Killer has Silva in his guard.
Silva must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


The Killer tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Silva really doesn't want to stay on the ground with The Killer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The Killer is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The Killer is looking for a kimura but Silva is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for The Killer to get the leverage.

The Killer has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Silva is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for The Killer.

Silva stands up and we're back to a striking position.

The Killer looks to land a left hand but Silva moved out of range nicely.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as The Killer accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The Killer sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Silva's guard.
The Killer wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Silva uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
The Killer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Silva swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The Killer postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Silva is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of The Killer, into his guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Silva has control of The Killer's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and The Killer regains control of the situation pretty easily.

The Killer tries to reverse the position but Silva maintains control.
The Killer is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Samuel Silva comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Silva has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
