Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Poe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Thahan Nantakarn!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Jorge Garcia and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poe uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Nantakarn.

Poe shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Poe wants to stand up but Nantakarn is controlling the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nantakarn can do anything to dispel that myth.
Poe works his way into full mount!
Poe wants to take Nantakarn's back but he can't do it this time.

Poe fails to move to back control.

Poe is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Nantakarn has managed to escape the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Poe postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Nantakarn looks a forlorn figure.
Nantakarn tries to lock up and control but Poe gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nantakarn is trying desperately to improve position.
Nantakarn holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Poe tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Poe controlling from mount.
Nantakarn is squirming around, avoiding Poe's attempts to control the action.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Poe has hold of Nantakarn's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Nantakarn manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Poe has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Poe looking to secure an arm triangle but Nantakarn defends it well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nantakarn tries to reverse the position but Poe maintains control.

Poe is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Nantakarn is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Nantakarn flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Poe anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Nantakarn and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Poe slips an arm under Nantakarn chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Poe has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Poe is squeezing on Nantakarn like an anaconda would it's prey. Nantakarn fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). James Poe!
