PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Radzimanowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Douglas Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Radzimanowski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Douglas Brown!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Radzimanowski misses with a takedown attempt
and Brown counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

and Radzimanowski counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Brown!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Brown is wriggling around trying to escape.
Radzimanowski really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Radzimanowski will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Brown sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Brown has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Radzimanowski can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Radzimanowski takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Radzimanowski closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Radzimanowski shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Brown's guard.

You get the feeling that Radzimanowski really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Brown jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Radzimanowski is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Radzimanowski and Brown has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Brown goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Radzimanowski turns into him and now he's in Brown's guard.

Brown looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Radzimanowski has picked Brown up and slammed him! Brown can't keep hold of the triangle and Radzimanowski manages to pass to side control!

Radzimanowski's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Radzimanowski looks up at the clock and then as Brown takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Radzimanowski smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

That was a close second round but I would say that John Radzimanowski will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Brown throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Radzimanowski sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Radzimanowski uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Brown.
Brown rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Radzimanowski moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Radzimanowski changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Brown tries to avoid it but Radzimanowski manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Brown to the ground. Brown escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Radzimanowski. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Douglas Brown has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
John Radzimanowski is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Brown is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.

Radzimanowski throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Brown tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Radzimanowski is in Brown's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Radzimanowski.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Radzimanowski, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
