Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Davis Davies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cong Mao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davies's entrance music is Wars Of Islam. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Davis Davies!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cong Mao!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davies keeps the fight on the outside.
A big left from Mao misses.
Mao wants to clinch up but Davies keeps it at a distance.
Mao scores with a nice right hand.
Cong Mao seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mao wants to clinch.
Davies connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Davies misses with a double jab.
Mao moves out of range of the strikes.
Mao tries to close the distance and clinch up but Davies swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Mao shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Mao takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Left hook, right uppercut from Mao.
Davies keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Mao drives through with a takedown into Davies's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Mao postures up in Davies's guard and throws a big left but Davies blocks it.
Mao looking to sit in guard and control but Davies gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Mao is pulling down on Davies's head. It's preventing any offense from Davies, at least for the moment.
Davies trying to stand up but can't free himself from Mao's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mao is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Davies is controlling him.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mao has Davies pulled in close to control his posture.

Cong Mao has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Davies fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Mao shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Mao not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Mao is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Davies reverses the position - he's now on top in Mao's guard.
Davies wants to stand but Mao is controlling his posture from full guard.

Mao is working an open guard so Davies takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Mao shoots in looking for a takedown but Davies manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mao's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Davis Davies has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cong Mao.

Mao throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Davies tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mao is in Davies's guard.
Mao wants to control from the top but Davies keeps moving.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Davies has his feet on Mao's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Mao shoots in looking for a takedown. Davies tries to sprawl out of it but Mao keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Davies manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cong Mao dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Mao shoots in looking for a takedown. Davies tries to sprawl out of it but Mao keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Davies manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Mao shoots in and drives through. Davies sprawls well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mao will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Davis Davies has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cong Mao.
Mao tries to score a power double leg takedown but Davies sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mao somewhat.

and Davies counters with a nice body shot.
Mao shoots in but no luck this time.
Mao dives in and grabs Davies's left leg, looking for a takedown. Davies pushes down on Mao's head and hops out.
Mao tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Mao takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
No luck for Mao with that takedown attempt.
Davis Davies is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mao rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Davies moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Mao closes this distance looking for a takedown but Davies circles away.
Davies fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Mao shoots for a double leg takedown but Davies sprawls well. He's pushed Mao's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Davies counters with a three punch combo that has Mao backing up. Mao nods at Davies to acknowledge the strikes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Davies drops Mao with a beautiful combination! Mao stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Davies is looking for the KO!

Mao looks to land a body kick but Davies moved away.

and Davies counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Mao is trying hard to land a takedown here. Davies sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Mao decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Davies is trying to stand up here but Mao is controlling him well.

Mao with the ground and pound but Davies uses the opportunity to regain guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mao wants to pass the guard but Davies is keeping the position.
Cong Mao has got the better of the ground game so far.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mao is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Davies.

Mao shoots for a takedown but Davies saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Davies lands with a cross.
Mao drops his hands momentarily and Davies takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Mao shoots in but no luck this time.

Davies lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mao circles away quickly and effectively.
Davies tries to bum rush Mao with a series of wild strikes but Mao uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mao is defended easily by Davies.
Davies misses with a double jab.
Mao changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Davies tries to avoid it but Mao manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Davies to the ground. Davies escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mao moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

and Mao counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Davies's guard now.
Mao prevents Davies from getting back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Davis Davies showed his dominance in that final round.
