Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cory Rice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cory Rice!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michael Wright!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wright misses with a hook

and Rice moves into the clinch.
Wright fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Wright breaks the clinch.

Rice rushes Wright and presses him up against the cage.
Rice wants to get back to striking at distance but Wright won't allow it.
Rice misses with a body punch.
Wright lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Wright's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A nice inside leg kick there by Wright. That's going to slow Rice down.

Wright has closed the distance and engaged Rice in a clinch.

Wright breaks from the clinch.
Wright tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Rice manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Wright throws a leg kick but Rice moved away.
Nice sprawl there from Wright as Rice shoots in.
Rice fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Michael Wright seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wright closes the distance and clinches.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wright working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Wright stalling in the clinch.
Wright swings away with an uppercut that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rice working hard to break the clinch.
Still in the clinch, Wright scores with a nice short uppercut.

Rice decides to pull guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Rice tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Wright tries to stand but Rice is controlling from the bottom.

Wright gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Rice shoots in looking for a takedown but Wright manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rice's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Wright wants to clinch.
Wright tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rice paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Wright has taken the fight to the clinch.
Wright tries to stall but Rice uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Rice has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Wright uses from the top position.

Wright gets to his feet. Rice looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Wright clinches.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wright lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Rice gets control of Wright's arms and successfully pulls guard. Rice will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Rice is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Rice is breathing heavily.

Wright gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Wright moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.


It looks like Cory Rice has been cut.

Rice closes the distance and clinches.

Wright breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The fight stays on the outside here - Wright looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Wright clinches.

Wright pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Rice throws a right and a left that both miss.
Wright catches Rice with a right, a left, a right. It's raining punches and Rice forgot an umbrella! Another punch and he's down. This one is over!
