PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Audet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lynard Carlson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Audet might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Will.I.Am - T.H.E.. Lynard Carlson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Nathan Audet!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lynard Carlson!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carlson closes the distance and clinches.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Carlson.
Audet is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Audet landing knees to the body.
Carlson with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Audet wants to take the fight to the mat but Carlson manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Nathan Audet seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Carlson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Audets jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Carlson unloads a knee to the mid-section. Audet lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Audet throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Carlson blocks it with crossed arms.

Audet using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Carlson has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Carlson gets caught flat footed, as Audet shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Audet throws an elbow that misses. Carlson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Audet's guard. Nice move by Carlson!

Audet had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Carlson defends it easily.
Carlson stays in close to Audet's body and controls the position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Lynard Carlson wasn't active enough on the ground.

Carlson has Audet up against the cage in a clinch.
Carlson lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Audet misses with a knee to the head.
Carlson lands a nice shot to the body.
Carlson wants to get back to striking at distance but Audet won't allow it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Carlson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A telegraphed right hand from Audet misses the target.
Audet throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lynard Carlson dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Nathan Audet's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Carlson blocks a head kick by Audet.
Audet on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Nice jab there from Carlson.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Audet crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Carlson - the referee stops the clock and Audet gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Carlson. Audet manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Audet takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Carlson swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Audet.
Carlson works the jab nicely.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Good leg kick by Carlson there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Audet closes the distance but Carlson moves to the side
and Carlson counters with a nice body kick.
Audet moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Audet darts in trying to clinch
enabling Carlson to counter with a crisp jab.
Carlson swats away the attempt to clinch by Audet.
Carlson looks for the body kick but Audet saw that one coming.
Audet wants to clinch.
Audet tries to clinch but Carlson is having none of it.

A looping hook to the body misses from Audet. Carlson does a little dance to reset his feet.

Audet darts in and clinches Carlson up against the cage.

Carlson creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Audet's defenses.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Carlson throws a powerful right kick. Audet tried to block low but the kick was high! Audet was taken right off of his feet! Carlson jumps in to finish the job and the ref tackles him! The fight is over!

Lynard Carlson spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
