PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tim Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Abrak Basangur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Basangur comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Kavkaz - Sila kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tim Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Abrak Basangur!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Illya Tyunina and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott lands a nice leg kick that just misses Basangur's sensitive parts.

Scott rushes Basangur and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Scott has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Basangur is trying to keep an underhook but Scott manages to get the takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Basangur pushes Scott off looking to stand but Scott dives back in and keeps control.

Scott is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Basangur doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Scott.
Basangur wants to get back to his feet.
Basangur regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Scott.
Scott wants to control from the top but Basangur keeps moving.
Scott prevents Basangur from getting back to his feet.
Scott pushes down on Basangur's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Scott is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Scott stops Basangur from getting back to his feet.
Basangur really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Scott. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Scott thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Basangur's head.

Scott is working for a submission of some sort.

Basangur looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Basangur is trying to stand.

Basangur defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Scott.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Scott misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Scott gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Scott connects with a high kick.
Basangur shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Scott throws a quick inside leg kick.
Nice takedown defense from Basangur. No joy for Scott on that attempt.

Scott clinches up against the cage.

Scott has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Basangur clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Scott is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Basangur with him. Basangur is trying to defend but Scott has an arm under the chin now! Basangur grimaces and is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Tim Scott!
