The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Handel, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Parinias scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Parinias scores a takedown into full mount!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Handel is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Parinias trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Handel is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Parinias cracks Handel with a big elbow.
Parinias is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Handel will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Handel is not content to let Parinias control the position.
Parinias wants to take a breather but Handel manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Parinias.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Handel stalks Parinias and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Parinias's face. Parinias staggers backwards, shaken.

Parinias looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

and Handel counters with a one-two to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Handel lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Parinias circles away quickly and effectively.
No luck for Parinias with that takedown attempt.
Parinias throws a combination that misses
and Handel counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Parinias throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Handel tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Parinias is in Handel's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Handel escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Parinias gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Wilfried Handel.
I think Parinias has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
