The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Grimes takes the fight into the clinch.
Grimes trying to land knees to the body.
Grimes is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Rook is defending well for now.
Grimes lands a shot to the body.
Grimes tries to land a knee to the head but Rook blocks with his arms.
Grimes tries to land knees in the clinch but Rook avoids the damage to the body.
Grimes with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

It looks like Yuri Rook has been cut.
Grimes lands a left hand.
Grimes tries to work over Rook's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Rook breaks the clinch.
Yuri Rook seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rook darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Grimes is not content to let Rook control the position.

Rook is working for a kimura here but Grimes manages to reverse the position and he's now in Rook's guard.

Rook is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rook displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Grimes throws out the jab.
Grimes goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Rook is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Grimes.

Grimes displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rook.

Rook misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Grimes.
Grimes scores with a hook to the body. Rook takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Grimes defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Rook.
Rook throws an overhand right that lands on Grimes's shoulder, as Grimes tries to avoid the shot.
Grimes takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Buster Grimes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nice takedown defense from Grimes. No joy for Rook on that attempt.

Grimes digs a right hand underneath Rook's ribcage. Rook let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Rook avoiding damage as Grimes throws knees to the body.
Rook wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Grimes has him pressed against the cage.

Rook manages to break the clinch.
Rook tests Grimes's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Grimes keeps Rook at a distance using the push kick.
Grimes lands a nice looking kick to the body. Rook takes a step back to recover.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rook tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Grimes was well out of range. Poor timing from Rook.
Rook tries to bum rush Grimes with a series of wild strikes but Grimes uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A solid leg kick lands there for Grimes.
Rook is breathing heavily.
A combination from Rook does no damage.
A cross from Grimes lands.
Rook on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Grimes moves out of range of the strikes.
Rook gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Grimes gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Rook is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
