Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johny Cage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, George Pierre!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cage misses with the combination.
Cage looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Pierre has managed to clinch.
Cage looking for a takedown.
Pierre avoiding damage as Cage throws knees to the body.

Pierre successfully pulls guard.
Pierre is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pierre looking for a sweep. Not yet Pierre, not yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pierre working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cage doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cage manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Pierre manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cage manages to get himself to full guard.
Pierre pushing down on Cage's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Pierre is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Cage has managed to free his arm - good work.
Cage has hold of Pierre's hands but Pierre slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Pierre slows the pace down in half guard.

Pierre is looking for a kimura but Cage is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pierre to get the leverage.
Pierre trying to mount his opponent but Cage defends it.
Pierre is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Cage!
Pierre is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Cage can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Pierre landing punches.
Pierre takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Cage is bucking up trying to escape but Pierre cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Pierre tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Pierre cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Pierre is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Cage can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Cage is working to get back to half guard.
Cage tries to hold on but Pierre pushes him away.
Pierre prevents Cage from getting the reversal.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Cage in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Pierre has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

George Pierre dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Pierre drives through and clinches with Cage against the cage.

Pierre escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Pierre swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Cage shoots in but Pierre avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Pierre closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Pierre prevents Cage from improving his position.

Pierre gets a clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pierre breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Cage with a lazy takedown attempt

so Pierre counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Pierre scoring with punches to the head and body.
Pierre is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Pierre trying to control but Cage is working from the bottom.

Cage working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pierre doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pierre manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Pierre not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Cage looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Pierre is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Cage looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Pierre has picked Cage up and slammed him! Cage can't keep hold of the triangle and Pierre manages to pass to side control!
Pierre connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Cage some visible discomfort.
Pierre in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Cage pushes Pierre away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Pierre gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Cage tries to get back to half guard but can't.
You can see the frustration on Cage's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pierre scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Cage to see if he's OK.
Pierre moves into full mount!
Pierre content just to control the position here.
Cage tries to improve his position but instead Pierre has taken his back!
Cage holding both Pierre 's hands and preventing any damage.
Cage is covering up but some of the strikes from Pierre are getting through and doing damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George Pierre showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Cage's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


Cage has his takedown stuffed

and Pierre counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Cage!
Pierre landing strikes, looking to finish!

Pierre wants to finish this one by submission but Cage is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Pierre.
Pierre is landing with some decent strikes but Cage is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Cage is wriggling around trying to escape.
Pierre can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cage is looking to escape.

Pierre goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Cage is on top in guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Cage wants to pass the guard but Pierre is keeping the position.

Pierre keeping moving, preventing Cage from controlling successfully.
Pierre is pulling down on Cage's head to control his posture.
Cage tries to free his leg and advance position but Pierre is retaining full guard.

Johny Cage has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Pierre is looking for a triangle but Cage pushes his legs off easily.
Pierre not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Pierre wants to stand up but Cage is controlling him.
Cage trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Pierre is pulling down on Cage's head to control his posture.

Pierre has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cage can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Pierre is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Cage postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Pierre is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Cage, into his guard.

Pierre stands up from Cage's guard - Pierre perhaps looking for a knockout.
Pierre throws a right hand that Cage ducks under and follows up with a left that Cage also avoids with ease.
Pierre changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cage tries to avoid it but Pierre manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cage to the ground. Cage escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Pierre decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cage's guard.

Pierre won't allow Cage to sweep him here.

Cage has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pierre can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cage is on top in guard.
Pierre throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Pierre looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Pierre controls Cage momentarily but Cage frees himself.
Pierre is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

George Pierre comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Pierre has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
