PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Motor Martino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Velcrow Mercades (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mercades has chosen The Baddest- Krispy Kreme as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mercades lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Martino circles away quickly and effectively.

Martino looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Martino thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Martino in particular looking to stall.

Velcrow Mercades seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Martino shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mercades pinned against the cage. Mercades gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Martino closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You can see the frustration on Mercades's face as Martino controls the position.
Martino has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Mercades is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Martino seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mercades for as long as he can get away with.

Martino throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mercades tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Martino is in Mercades's guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Motor Martino.

Martino has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Mercades's face.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Martino's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Motor Martino showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Martino, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
