PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Quantavius Sampson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Manuel Diablos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sampson comes to the cage accompanied by Lose Yourself by Eminem. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sampson takes a kick to the side of the head.

It looks like Quantavius Sampson has been cut.
Diablos throws a head kick that misses

and Sampson counters by clinching up.
Diablos is trying to break the clinch but Sampson is controlling him.
Diablos letting Sampson take a breather here.

Sampson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Sampson rushes Diablos and presses him up against the cage.
Diablos wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Sampson breaks from the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Diablos tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Sampson rushes Diablos and presses him up against the cage.
Diablos keeps control of Sampson as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Diablos is trying to break the clinch but Sampson has him pressed against the cage.
Diablos tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Sampson just stands there and leans against the cage.
Sampson is working Diablos over against the cage.
Diablos tries to pull guard but Sampson won't allow it.
Sampson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Diablos wants a takedown but no success here.
Quantavius Sampson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Manuel Diablos.
Diablos wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Sampson has him pressed against the cage.

Sampson blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Sampson has clasped his hands together around Diablos's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Sampson is trying to ground and pound but Diablos uses the momentary lack of control by Sampson to regain half guard.
Diablos moves into full guard.

Diablos has his feet on Sampson's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Sampson avoids the head kick by Diablos.
Sampson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Diablos uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sampson.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Diablos lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Sampson has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Sampson and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Sampson gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Diablos has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Sampson is trying to break free.

Sampson has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Diablos is trying to keep an underhook but Sampson manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Diablos is trying to stand back up but Sampson is controlling him
Sampson is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Diablos manages to get to full guard.
Sampson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Sampson wants to pass the guard but Diablos is keeping the position.

Diablos looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Sampson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Diablos is proving hard to escape from.

Diablos working for a triangle but Sampson defends it easily.
Diablos is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Diablos not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Diablos is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Sampson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Diablos is trying to control the position but Sampson postures up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Manuel Diablos hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Diablos throws a head kick but Sampson moves out of range.
Sampson avoids the head kick by Diablos.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Diablos lands with a nice body punch.
Diablos's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Diablos duly obliges.
Diablos pivots, looking for a leg kick but Sampson is out of range and Diablos settles back down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Diablos cracks the inside of Sampson's front leg.
Sampson seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Diablos shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Sampson is backing up but Diablos catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Sampson covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Diablos Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Manuel Diablos!
