Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Victor Paixao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paixao's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Vicious Traditions. Smith has chosen Stronger as his entrance music. Victor Paixao could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jim Smith's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith stuffs the takedown.
Smith tries to clinch up.
Paixao has a takedown stuffed.

Smith moves into range and clinches up with Paixao.
Smith digs a right hand into Paixao's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Paixao's gas tank.
Smith tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Paixao smiles and moves away.
Paixao shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Smith defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Victor Paixao. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Paixao keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Smith tries to score a power double leg takedown but Paixao sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smith somewhat.

Smith gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Smith's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Smith tries for a takedown but Paixao sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Smith fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Paixao avoids it really well and circles away.
Paixao leaves Smith with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Paixao lands with an uppercut that bounces Smith off the cage and back into range.
Paixao tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Jim Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Paixao attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Smith fails with the takedown.
Paixao thows a body shot but no joy.
Paixao moves in looking to clinch but Smith pushes him off.
Smith takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Nice takedown defense from Paixao. No joy for Smith on that attempt.

Paixao fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Smith throws a left and a right that both miss
and Paixao counters with a leg kick.
Paixao throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Smith's head.

Smith wants to clinch.
Smith shoots in for a double leg but Paixao sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Smith looks gassed!
Paixao lands a high kick!

Smith is rocked!
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Paixao paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Smith is still on wobbly legs! Can Paixao finish him?
Paixao keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Smith misses with a series of wild punches.
Paixao cracks Smith with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Smith tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Paixao pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Smith is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Victor Paixao!
Victor Paixao was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
