Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steven Conner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kyle Laidler!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Eliza Hachem and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Conner shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Laidler is trying to defend but Conner finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Conner is looking for a kimura here.
Laidler is trying to stand up here but Conner is controlling him well.
Laidler keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Conner perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Conner is trying to control the action in half guard but Laidler is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Laidler wants to get back to his feet.

Conner is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Laidler is just riding it out for now. Conner eventually gives up the hold.
Conner wants to pass the guard but Laidler is defending well.
Laidler wants to get back to his feet.
Conner is trying to control. Laidler wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Conner keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Conner looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Conner seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Laidler does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Conner could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Conner is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Laidler doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Conner.
Laidler tries to kick Conner off but Conner keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Conner wants to take a breather but Laidler is having none of it.
Conner is looking to stall here but Laidler recovers full guard.
Laidler wants to get back to his feet but Conner is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Conner advances position into side control!
Conner wants to control but Laidler is keeping him busy.
Laidler takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.


That has opened up Kyle Laidler's cut even more.
Conner working the head and body with strikes.

Conner has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Laidler is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Conner yanks on the arm and Laidler is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Conner.
