The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Hayes. No joy for Lacerda on that attempt.

Lacerda darts in and clinches Hayes up against the cage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hayes sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Lacerda is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hayes sees it coming and defends easily.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hayes moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Hayes is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lacerda defends well.
Lacerda wants to control from the top but Hayes keeps moving.
Hayes is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Hayes is looking for a triangle here but Lacerda uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Lacerda in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Lacerda has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Hayes is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Lacerda yanks on the arm and Hayes is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Lacerda.
