PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between dmitri petrov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nino Marques (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that dmitri petrov has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily dmitri petrov seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
petrov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Marques but Marques pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Marques instigates a clinch.

Marques pulls petrov into guard.
petrov wants to control from the top but Marques keeps moving.
Marques is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Marques should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
petrov passes Marques's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Marques tries to get to full guard but petrov has control of the leg.
petrov stops Marques from getting back to his feet.
Marques is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Marques trying to control from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
petrov connects with a single shot there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
petrov scores with a hook to the body. Marques takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Marques decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Marques thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed petrov's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marques thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing petrov to regain full guard.
Marques trying to stand up but can't free himself from petrov's guard.
Marques postures up.

Marques content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because petrov has locked up a guillotine! petrov's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Marques is holding on here and petrov must be using up a lot of energy. Marques has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! petrov gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
