Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Renton!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, John Mangel and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Renton just misses with a punch to the body.

Kokovtsov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Kokovtsov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Renton moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Renton fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kokovtsov sprawls well initially but Renton persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Renton wants to control but Kokovtsov is keeping him busy.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Renton connects with a nice short shot to Kokovtsov's temple.

Renton looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kokovtsov with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Renton lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
