The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gruffo fails with a takedown attempt.
Some wild striking there from Leonardo.
A telegraphed right hand from Leonardo misses the target.

Leonardo shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gruffo napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Leonardo is working Gruffo over with some ground and pound from side control.
Leonardo tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
The referee asks Leonardo politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Leonardo prefers to stall for the moment though.
Leonardo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gruffo keeps working.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Leonardo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gruffo is looking to escape.

Leonardo closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Leonardo lands in his opponent's guard.

Leonardo is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Rai Leonardo has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Gruffo shoots for a double leg takedown but Leonardo sprawls well. He's pushed Gruffo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Leonardo counters with a huge head kick that drops Gruffo! The ref dives in to stop the fight and the crowd goes wild!
