Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Quick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Jay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marcus Quick has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Quick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bob Jay!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Russell Pearce and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Quick has closed the distance and engaged Jay in a clinch.
Jay jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Quick walks away with a smile on his face. Jay gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Jay takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Quick jabs Jay to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Good exchange - Quick coming out on top.
Quick lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jay tries for a takedown but Quick circles away easily

and Quick counters by clinching up.

Quick has clasped his hands together around Jay's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Jay tries to bench press Quick off him but Quick keeps the position.

Quick decides to stand back up.
Quick keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Jay gets tackled into the cage by Quick. Quick maintains the clinch.
Quick gets through Jay's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Quick lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Quick is pressing down on Jay's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jay is holding on for now.

Quick content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Quick wants to stand but Jay has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Marcus Quick just wasn't active enough.

and Quick counters by moving into the clinch.

Quick keeps control of Jay as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Jay is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Quick is defending well.
Quick lands a shot to the body.
Quick pushes Jay back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Quick wants the takedown. Jay is fighting it off but Quick persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Jay's guard against the cage.

Quick is pushing down on Jay's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jay is fighting to maintain full guard but Quick has managed to sneak the leg through.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Jay regains half guard.

Quick scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Quick decides to stand up.
Jay ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Quick moves away.
A left and a right from Quick both land. Nice combination.
Quick pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Jay back to the cage. Quick follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jay tries to score a power double leg takedown but Quick sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jay somewhat.

Quick rushes Jay and presses him up against the cage.

Quick cracks Jay with a nice body shot.
Jay looks gassed!

Quick escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jay with a poor takedown
and Quick cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Quick scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
A lazy left from Quick finds it's target.
Quick is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Jay throws a sloppy body shot
and Quick counters with a three punch combo that has Jay backing up. Jay nods at Quick to acknowledge the strikes.

Quick darts in and clinches Jay up against the cage.

Jay ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jay no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Quick seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Jay is looking to clinch but Quick is avoiding it.
Horrible takedown by Jay or perhaps it was just good defense by Quick which made him look bad.

Jay closes the distance but Quick moves to the side

Quick has hold of one of Jay's legs. Jay is fighting the takedown attempt but Quick gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Jay had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Quick defends it easily.

Jay is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Quick pulls his head out easily.
Quick seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Quick is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Jay!
Quick will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Quick moves into range and clinches up with Jay.
A short body shot lands from Quick as the two fighters clinch.

Quick breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jay lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Quick circles away quickly and effectively.

Quick clinches with his opponent.
Quick lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Jay tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Quick just stands there and leans against the cage.

Quick is trying to trip Jay. He has hold of a leg but Jay is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Quick persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Quick has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Jay takes a shot to the head.
Bob Jay has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Quick's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Quick's jab looks to have found its range, popping Jay under the eye.
Quick moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

enabling Quick to counter with a crisp jab.
Jay is still on wobbly legs! Can Quick finish him?

Jay seems to have recovered his senses.
Quick paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
It's a brutal combination of punches from Quick! Jay is backing up but he can't get away as Quick lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Jay and ends the fight. Great knockout.
